Tin & Gonic, anyone?

Let's take a look around Deck 6, shall we? As well as being home to five bars, it is the moving and shaking deck, so I expect we will run into each other quite often here.

Of course, the upper level of the Pacifica theater is on this deck. So is the Cinema, but for the life of me, I don't understand why anyone would sit in a dark movie theater on a cruise ship. Ah well, it takes all kinds.....and you will see all kinds on a cruise, believe me.

Then there is the Sports Bar. If a hotly contested pennant race is on, you might find me in here catching a baseball score from time to time.

Next on our tour of Deck 6 is the Casino Royale. Besides the usual slot machines and poker machines, one can also play Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, etc. There's also a rather hopping bar in the casino if anyone cares to drown their sorrows. A good thing to know - if you need cash (in US bills) you can charge cash to your Sea Pass account up to $200 at a time, I think it is. Ask the casino cashier. To be nice, after you do this, it's a good idea to at least throw a few coins into a slot machine since the cash advance is supposed to be for gambling. It's a fun place to hang out even if high-rolling is not your thing. You might even see Quentin at the roulette wheel with some rich guy from Dubai...


For those in our group who prefer to sip Champagne, Cognac or Sekt rather than toss quarters into a one-armed-bandit, stop into the Champagne Bar. Classy.


Then we come to the 2 specialty restarants onboard, Chops Grill and Portofinos. These are the only two restaurants onboard that charge a fee ($25 per person) and require advanced reservations. I have always felt the main dining room and other non-fee restaurants were fine, so I have never paid extra to eat at the specialty places. I hear they are fabulous, though.

Ahhhh, now, my favorite place on any Royal Caribbean ship - Schooner Bar! Wonderful atmosphere, great bartenders, and all the Tanqueray a gal can drink.


So after quenching our thirsts in the Schooner, we will now explore the Colony Club. Hurry along , Ladies.

This "club concept" is new to me, but is a feature of all Radiance Class ships (the Radiance, the Brilliance, the Jewel, and the Serenade of the Seas). Called the Colony Club on the BotS, it is set up like an old British Club complete with a Billiard Room, Singapore Sling's Bar, Colony Dance Floor, comfy sitting and meeting areas, Card Rooms, and more. The billiards tables are pretty amazing.
